Description
Another option here is to cool the herbal mixture once ready, mix in 1 tbsp of witch hazel, and soak some organic pads in it, place them into ziplock bags and freeze them to make healing “padsicles” that basically act as an ice pack for your vagina or cesarian incision.
Using both of these practices for the first 1-2 weeks postpartum is a great way to fast track the healing process.
- Calendula: this herb is a known anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and astringent for wound healing (helps with hemorrhoids too)
- Comfrey: This herb is also known to help with wound healing because of the presence of allantoin, which is a chemical that stimulates cell proliferation (tissue healing).
- Yarrow: This herb is astringent and antiseptic, making it another great herb for wound healing. It also works as a septic, to stop bleeding.
- Black Tea (Earl Grey): This common tea actually helps to heal wounds and is also anti-bacterial!
